Internal Revenue Service/Atlantic Coast Club Good Governance Practices

MISSION STATEMENT
The Atlantic Coast Club’s  primary objective is to help make our community a better place for our youth to grow and prosper.  We try to help student athletes achieve educational and athletic success through our structured programs and the programs of our community partners.  An extensive part of our mission is  to develop mentors who will help carry on our charity’s tradition.

CODE OF ETHICS
The Atlantic Coast Club believes in the principles of fair play, compliance, and integrity.  We will maintain the enforcement of ethical standards in the behavior of our administrators and our young participants.  We will not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, gender, national origin, etc.

DUE DILLIGENCE
The Organization’s directors and managers are obligated to operate in accordance with the Virginia State Corporation Commission and Internal Revenue Service rules of governance (written or unwritten).  By unwritten we mean that practical and common sense judgement in the charity’s best interest will be used in policy making and enforcement of our Articles of Incorporation where no clear policy is established in writing by the SCC or IRS.

DUTY OF LOYALTY
The directors and managers have an obligation to be loyal members of the non-profit, tax exempt community and restrain from inappropriate behavior and practices.  Directors will refrain from potential conflict of interest engagements as they relate to this corporation.

TRANSPARENCY
The  Corporation will make information about it’s mission, activities, and successes available on its web site.  We understand the necessity for the general public to be aware of the charity work we perform and the impact we have on the children in our community.

FUND RAISING
Atlantic Coast must consistently raise funds in order to maintain it’s financial freedom.  New and innovative methods of fund raising are constantly being explored in order to be able to produce quality programs that are needed to be effective.

Summary

Our program is working.  The directors and managers will continue to monitor and evaluate our good governance practices in our quarterly board meetings, quarterly news letters, and everyday activities.  We have intentionally omitted mentioning successes like the national champions the league has produced.  We will leave that to the individual teams.  Our concentration is on running an effective business and being in compliance with regulations so the national champions and good student athletes can continue to be produced.
