President's Message

ATLANTIC COAST TRACK LEAGUE
P.O. Box 1893
Norfolk, VA 23501

February 7 2009

Greetings from the Atlantic Coast Track League and welcome to our first annual Atlantic Coast  Winter Track Meet.  The entire east coast is  fortunate to have the Boo Williams facility and we are especially happy that it is in Hampton.   The presence of a corporate partner like this Sportsplex will enable this area to develop more talent than ever before.

We hope, starting with this 2009 event, to help make indoor “age group” track an institution in the Tidewater area.  Thank you for participating in our beginning stages.
2009 is the foundation year for our development. Plans are underway to offer a series of indoor “age group” competitions in the 2010 season.  All of this is being done in an effort to offer as many services to our children as possible.  We have to do whatever we can to protect and serve our young generation.

This indoor event, the first ever sponsored by our league, is dedicated to one of our long time members who has recently been sidelined with an illness. Louis Moon helped with every outdoor Atlantic Coast Track League event until his untimely sickness.  He also has helped with fundraising, the training of “age group” and high school athletes, and in many other capacities serving Tidewater youth.  He is a well known and well respected member of our track and field fraternity.  If he were well, today he would be working in the clerking area or on the finish line.

Moon, we miss you and we know the children miss the motivational support you always provided.  This meet is for you.

I hope every athlete has a safe and rewarding experience today.

Sincerely,

Kermit,
President
